Unity Tutorial 06

Unity Tutorial 06 - Catherine Emelyanova

In this weeks Unity Tutorial we had to create a prototype, here we work on different topics such as animation, Sounds and other effects. This is all done using Unity's Physics Engine.

Sprite Render
The sprite render is a tool that allows you to use/modify images within your game. What I like about this is you can use it when creating 2D GAMES. Using the sprite render, I added a pre-rendered background.

Scripts

When following the tutorial I do keep encountering the same issue of the scripts folder acting up. I have been fixing it for a bit. After this it was time to work on getting this character to move and jump.  I ran into a problem for a while were something was not working within the script. At first it was telling me that it my scripts were not in the correct folder. After some time of digging through each folder and checking each asset within the folder, I finally found that within my actual script there was a tag that was not closed. After I sorted it, the game began to work again. So from now on in future I will always be careful and check through my coding regularly.

That is all I had for today. It is not a lot but it works nicely.

Unity Tutorial 04

Unity Tutorial

Hello everyone, For this weeks tutorial I will be discussing Player positioning.

Player Positioning

For this weeks lab, I followed another tutorial by Unity, that they created. This tutorial was on player positioning.

I had to start a new project. From then on I followed the tutorial. It was not anything too difficult. There was some nice features as downloading assets and having a look at what there was to offer.

The unity template is straight forward. The actual positioning is not difficult at all. It is mainly down to personal preference, whether what you want to use and how.

In the tutorial it mainly shows how to input different characters and objects.

To give the characters actions to move around. We first have to add a script. This is done in VisualStudio.

That is all for this week. Thank you for reading.
If you have any comments please leave them, otherwise.
See you all next week

Unity Free Tutorials

Introduction
In this week's Unity Tutorials, we are required to search for our own tutorials that suit our game ideas. I really enjoyed searching for a tutorial that suits my game as the kind of game style I am going for is similar to Sonic the hedgehog and Temple Run.

Essentially my game is about the "player", running through a dungeon, collecting items and fighting enemies throughout until the final level. At the end of each level, there will be boss battles, which determine if you can continue the game.

As you are running through the game you will collect objects such as coins, to purchase items such as healing and mana potions. And the coins are also used to level up your character.

Within the dungeon, you must make your way through the obstacles and to avoid contact with them.

To design this game I have found a tutorial on Youtube to help guide me into creating the game. The video is called "Creating A game like Temple Run in Unity". When watching this tutorial, I didn't really find it helpful. The Youtuber was speaking a different language and their game was way more advanced than anything I could do.

Unity Tutorial for my Game

Instead, I found a new tutorial that showed you how to make the same style of game that I am going for.

This series I do find easier to follow rather than the JimmyVegas Tutorials. These tutorials by KINGBEKIR are very simplified and do not feel so rushed. I like how the tutorials begin with using basic shapes and showing how the gameplay will turn out.

I hope some of yous found this helpful. Please comment if you have any suggestions for my game, always appreciated.
